Conera - PC audiometry

MADSEN Conera - Introducing Network Audiometry

The next generation in PC Audiometry

Following the successful growth of the NOAH interface platform in the 1990s, PCs have become a common sight in audiologic clinics today. Much audiologic equipment nowadays is able to transfer data to a PC – and some devices like the MADSEN Capella are actually PC-based. But these computer “islands” have been very limited in the extent to which they could share information with other PCs and applications.

Today, though, GN Otometrics is ushering in a new era in PC Audiometry in that data from the MADSEN Conera can be shared with other computers and other programs, from MS Excel to proprietary hospital systems.

The days of stand-alone audiometry are over.

Complete clinical audiometry, in HL or SPL

Conera consists of a hardware platform, transducers and accessories and NOAH-compatible software. The software is certified for use with both NOAH 2 and 3 and can be used on any IBM compatible PC together with Windows™ 98 SE, Me, 2000 and XP.

A true clinical audiometer, Conera can provide complete two-channel tone audiometry in HL or SPL. The system offers loudness scaling and a variety of special tests, including S.I.S.I., Stenger, A.B.L.B. (Fowler), Weber, Rinne and Hughson-Westlake Auto Threshold screening. The audiogram graphs can be superimposed, or shown separately (left/right or right/left).

Conera also offers the option of binaural SPL audiometry using insert earphones. This technique improves measurement accuracy and eliminates the need for HL to SPL conversion, which is a common source of error.

Advanced speech audiometry

For speech audiometry, Conera provides both numeric and graphic screens. The screen layouts are reader-friendly making speech tests easier and quicker to perform than ever before – for example, the on-screen word counter automatically tracks score.

Even better, the optional CD-ROM Control module lets you present speech materials directly from your PC. And with a virtual CD-ROM drive installed, you experience no noise or delay – and you don’t even need to use a physical CD.

Comprehensive documentation made easy

Where paper reports comprising all relevant ID and test data are still required, Conera lets you customize and design your own one-page or multi-page printout. If you have tympanometric test results for the current patient, these can be printed out on the same page as your audiometric data.

Conera stores data in NOAH 3 so that complete patient records – including comments – are at your fingertips and can be viewed at any time during a consultation.

Sharing data enhances efficiency

Besides storing audiometric data in NOAH 3 and compatible office management systems, Conera can export data in XML format – both formats permit easy data storage in electronic patient journals. XML export also allows statistical analysis of clinical results in other programs. You can also generate electronic reports in PDF format.

This data handling flexibility doesn’t just facilitate interface with a variety of electronic patient journal systems, it also lets you share clinical reports with colleagues and referring physicians. Consultation records including test data can be digitally reported to health authorities and filed together with electronic reimbursement claims to HMO’s.

Sharing information on a hospital network not only eliminates a lot of paper, it also streamlines and improves patient care.

Ideal for desktop and portable use

Conera’s compact footprint and extensive connections and patient communication/monitoring facilities facilitate sound room installation.

The OTOsuite™ Universe

MADSEN Conera connects to the OTOsuite software universe through a data link. It allows you to open audiometry data in OTOsuite for viewing and professional reporting. Measurement data from multiple instruments are easily combined in a single report - customized with your name and logo.

OTOsuite is GN Otometrics’ software universe in which your individual diagnostic and fitting tools are integrated. Benefits include a more efficient workflow; less time spent on training and combined reporting.
