Electronystagmography with CNG Analyser Software

Electronystagmography (ENG) measures eye movements using electrical signals from the eyes recorded by means of electrodes. ENG is the clinical standard for testing the vestibular system and complements VNG by adding the capability of recording nystagmus responses in those patients who cannot be tested using VNG.

The system is available in different configurations to suit individual requirements. The hardware comprises a two or four-channel preamplifier for connecting electrodes. Easy-to-use CNG Analyser Software (available in three versions see below) requires a Medical PC supplied by GN Otometrics and certified to meet all applicable medical standards.

Visual stimulation may be provided with:

• The Video Target System a compact video projector for performing optokinetic, smooth pursuit and saccadic tests. Motion patterns and speed are variable.
• The Aquamatic water caloric stimulator.
• The Airmatic air caloric stimulator.
• Calibration bar.

Data acquisition and analysis

The ENG System requires the CNG Analyser Software, which is supplied in three versions for use with different configurations of vestibular test equipment:

• CNG Analyser software 2 Tests: spontaneous, caloric, user-defined tests (e.g. position and positioning).
• CNG Analyser software 3 Tests: same as CNG Analyser 2, with the following additions: optokinetic, smooth pursuit, saccadic and rotational chair tests.
• CNG Analyser software 4 Tests: same as CNG Analyser 3, but with 4-channel ENG module.
